Task
I set out to design a visual brand and packaging for the herbal tinctures and salves I make at home, beginning with a label and box design for a lemon balm tincture.
Process
After researching similar herbal wellness products and gathering visual inspiration, I began to play around with combinations of typography and illustration for initial sketches of the product label.
Next I created paper maquettes to get a sense for the way the label would wrap around the bottle. At this stage, I realized wanted more white space in the design. My next rendition used Futura PT and photographic elements to create a more modern, minimalistic feel. This provided the inspiration for the Backyard Botanicals logo, which features a rosebud.
